Legal Requirements for Landlords
Since June 2020, landlords in England and Wales are legally required to have the electrical installations in their rental properties inspected and tested by a qualified electrician at least every 5 years.
You must provide a copy of the EICR to your tenants within 28 days of the inspection, and to new tenants before they move in. If the local authority requests it, you must provide the report within 7 days.
